Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Manitoba Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:24 a.m. on January 17, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a house fire in a vacant two-and-a-half-storey house in the 200 block of Manitoba Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 12:03 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the house and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Alexander Avenue and Manitoba Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:16 p.m. on January 15, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a house fire in a two-storey duplex in the 400 block of Alexander Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from one of the suites. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 5:29 p.m.

No one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are currently available.

Targeted DED operation to begin in select parks

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg will soon begin large-scale tree removal and maintenance operations in three high-traffic parks.

With mild weather and an increasing number of Winnipeggers heading outdoors for fitness and recreation, parks visitors are reminded to be aware of their surroundings and obey both cautionary signage and access restrictions that may be put into place to protect passersby from falling debris.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a gas leak on Roch Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:33 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of an outside fire in the 1000 block of Roch Street.

When crews arrived, they observed a downed power line that had severed an underground gas line. The gas that was released from the severed gas line underground was burning off above the ground causing flames.

Motion introduced at EPC that seeks to give all 18 Councils in the Winnipeg Metropolitant Region a voice on Plan20-50

Winnipeg, MB – Today, a motion from Mayor Bowman was published for the January 20, 2021 Executive Policy Committee (EPC) meeting that recommends City Council request the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region (WMR) to publicly release draft Plan20-50. The motion also requests that all municipal Councils in the WMR be given an opportunity to review and formally approve draft Plan20-50 before the WMR sends it to the Province of Manitoba for their consideration.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Mountain Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:23 a.m. on January 12, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey, multi-family home in the 300 block of Mountain Avenue. WFPS was first notified when Winnipeg Police Service general patrol officers noticed heavy flames and smoke coming from the building and assisted with evacuations from the burning building before WFPS crews arrived.

Residents encouraged to get involved in City of Winnipeg governance review
