Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Main Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a mobile home in the 2600 block of Main Street.

When crews arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. Crews launched a defensive exterior attack declaring the fire under control at 12:24 a.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a gas leak on Regent Avenue East

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:20 a.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a severed gas line at a City of Winnipeg construction site at Regent Avenue East and Day Street. An excavation crew from the City’s Water and Waste Department had been working at the site.

Residential Parking Ban lifted

Winnipeg, MB The Residential Parking Ban has been lifted; the City of Winnipeg thanks all Winnipeggers for their patience and cooperation.

Residents are reminded that the Annual Snow Route Parking Ban remains in effect daily from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. until March 1.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Aberdeen Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:09 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a house fire in a one-and-a-half storey home in the 600 block of Aberdeen Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 12:25 a.m.

Crews searched the home and confirmed there was no one inside. No injuries were reported.

Statement from Mayor Brian Bowman Regarding the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region Plan20-50

Winnipeg, MB – Statement from Mayor Bowman:

“Today, I was pleased to meet with the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region (WMR) board and staff to discuss the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region Plan20-50, which I’ve been advised is currently being drafted by the WMR.

The WMR is made up of the City of Winnipeg and the 17 municipalities in the capital region.

Plan20-50 will be a long-term land use and servicing plan developed by the WMR and is built on three main objectives:

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Elkhorn Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:19 p.m. on January 6, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a single-storey house in the first 100 block of Elkhorn Street.

When crews arrived on scene they encountered smoke coming from the house and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 7:43 p.m.

All occupants of the structure self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. One individual was assessed by on-scene paramedics and transported to hospital in unstable condition. No other injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Beverley Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:02 p.m. on January 5, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment building in the 400 block of Beverley Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the building. Firefighters used a Flameguard X-Tinguish Fire Suppression Tool, an aerosol device that reduces temperatures, which allows safer access for firefighters. Crews then launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 9:48 p.m.

Residential Parking Ban in effect starting Thursday, January 7 at 7 a.m.

Motorists urged to park elsewhere when a residential street is scheduled for snow clearing; residents encouraged to Know Your Zone

Winnipeg, MB – Plowing of residential streets will begin Thursday morning to improve the overall condition of residential streets. As a result, a Residential Parking Ban has been declared and will be in effect starting Thursday, January 7 at 7 a.m.

Residents are urged to confirm their snow zone letter to determine when their residential street is scheduled for clearing.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Atlantic Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:58 p.m. on January 3, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey home in the 200 block of Atlantic Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 10:31 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on College Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:42 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey home in the 500 block of College Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 3:04 p.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available.
