Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Bill Blaikie Bay

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:59 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, single family home in the first 100 block of Bill Blaikie Bay.

When crews arrived on scene, there was smoke coming from the home. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 11:51 p.m.

All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:58 p.m. on January 29, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey, multi-family residence in the 500 block of Balmoral Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke in the building and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 6:29 p.m.

Occupants of the building safely self-evacuated. They were able to return to their suites once crews completed their work on scene. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Ellice Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:25 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey apartment building in the 700 block of Ellice Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they saw smoke coming from the building and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 2:47 p.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported. Tenants were able to return to their suites once the fire was extinguished.

New Recruitment Consultant Selected in the City of Winnipeg's National Search for a New CAO

Winnipeg, MB – A new external recruitment consultant has been selected by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) recruitment committee, announced Mayor Bowman today.

“The last national search was paused to allow the multi-year balanced budget process to unfold and then the global pandemic began,” said Mayor Bowman. “The new recruiter has demonstrated a national reach and an ability to attract a diverse pool of candidates. I look forward to working with the recruitment committee and the new recruiter toward the selection of our new CAO.”

Winnipeg Public Library to recall employees to improve contactless pick-up service

Winnipeg, MB – Due to the popularity of the Winnipeg Public Library’s contactless pick-up service, the City of Winnipeg is recalling 91 temporary, part-time employees who were laid off due to COVID-19 closures. The affected employees are anticipated to return to work beginning February 8, 2021. Currently, 10 libraries are open for contactless holds pick-up and return services only.

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:59 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey home in the 400 block of Young Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 5:41 a.m.

Crews searched the home and found no occupants inside. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:08 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-storey home in the 0-100 block of Athlone Drive.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 10:46 a.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Lipton Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:56 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a home in the 800 block of Lipton Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 8:30 p.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. Crews searched the home and confirmed there were no people inside. Paramedics assessed one patient on scene but no transportation to hospital was required.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Redwood Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:10 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey apartment block in the 300 block of Redwood Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene they encountered smoke coming from the building. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 4:32 a.m. The fire was contained to the suite where it originated.

Residents of the building were able to return to their suites once the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported.
