Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Maryland Street and Pembina Highway

Winnipeg, MB – Last evening, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two apartment building fires.

Maryland Street Fire

At 8:12 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2021, the WFPS responded to a fire alarm in a three-storey apartment building in the 500 block of Maryland Street.

Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke in the building. An offensive fire attack was launched and the fire was quickly declared under control, containing it to the suite where it originated.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Laurentia Bay

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:50 a.m. on Friday, April 2, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a one-storey home in the 100 block of Laurentia Bay.

When crews arrived on scene, smoke and flames were coming from the home. Crews launched a defensive exterior attack until an offensive internal attack could be safely launched. Crews declared the fire under control at 4:08 a.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Burrows Avenue and Sherbrook Street

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two fires during the day on Monday, March 29, 2021.

Burrows Avenue

At 10:16 a.m. the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half storey house in the 600 block of Burrows Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, smoke could be seen coming from the house. Crews launched a defensive exterior attack until it was safe enough to launch an offensive interior attack. The fire was declared under control at 10:47 a.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Creek Bend Road and Ross Avenue West

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two overnight structure fires.

Creek Bend Road

At 1:42 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a five-storey apartment building in the 100 block of Creek Bend Road.

When crews arrived, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the building. The building’s sprinkler system was activated. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 2:23 a.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Forrest Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:10 a.m., the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a home in the 200 block of Forrest Avenue.

When crews arrived, there was smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 4:38 a.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. One patient was transported to hospital in stable condition.

The City’s Emergency Social Services team was deployed to the scene to help displaced residents find temporary housing supports.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Brewer Crescent

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:07 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a duplex in the 0-100 block of Brewer Crescent.

When crews arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 4:40 p.m.
