Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Brewer Crescent

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:07 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a duplex in the 0-100 block of Brewer Crescent.

When crews arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 4:40 p.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported. One cat was found deceased and another cat was rescued by crews and reunited with its owner. The City of Winnipeg’s Animal Services attended the scene to provide support to the pet owners.

The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team was deployed to the scene to help displaced residents connect with temporary housing supports.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
