Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two overnight structure fires.
Creek Bend Road
At 1:42 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a five-storey apartment building in the 100 block of Creek Bend Road.
When crews arrived, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the building. The building’s sprinkler system was activated. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 2:23 a.m.
Paramedics treated one patient on scene but no transportation to hospital was required. Winnipeg Transit buses were provided as temporary shelter for evacuated residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available, but there was significant water and smoke damage in the building.
Ross Avenue West
At 2:11 a.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a house in the 1600 block of Ross Avenue West. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 2:28 a.m.
Crews searched the home and no occupants were located. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
