Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a grass fire near Sturgeon Road

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:59 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a grass fire near Murray Park Road and Sturgeon Road.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke and flames in a grassy area. With wind speeds gusting up to 57 km/h, there was a significant risk of the fire spreading.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on College Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:06 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-half storey home in the 400 block of College Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered flames and smoke coming from the home. Firefighters used a Flameguard X-Tinguish Fire Suppression Tool, an aerosol device that reduces temperatures, which allows safer access for firefighters. Crews then launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control 7:53 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Blake Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:58 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey apartment building in the 300 block of Blake Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 5:22 p.m.

All occupants either self-evacuated or safely sheltered in place until the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Public Library provides contactless holds pickup and return service

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Public Library will begin providing contactless holds pickup and return service at all 20 branches beginning Thursday, May 13, 2021, including at the newly renovated Cornish Library.

Service at the library branches will be for holds pickup and return services only. Customers will not have access to enter the branches.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Flora Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:25 a.m. on May 10, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 400 block of Flora Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke in the house and launched an offensive fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 11:59 a.m.

There were no occupants inside at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to grass fire in Elmwood

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:00 p.m. on May 9, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a large wildland fire in a grassy area near Foster Street and Tyne Avenue in Elmwood. It was estimated to cover an area the size of two football fields. With wind speeds gusting to over 45km/h, the fire was at serious risk of further spread.

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a significant grass fire and a house fire in the early hours of May 9, 2021.

William Avenue Fire

At 12:10 a.m. on May 9, 2021, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey, multi-family house in the 500 block of William Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they found smoke in the house and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 12:31 a.m.
