Winnipeg, MB – At 2:14 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house in the 500 block of Toronto Street.
When crews arrived on scene, smoke and flames were coming from the house. Firefighters launched an exterior defensive attack until it was safe to enter the building to launch an offensive attack.
Crews searched the building to confirm there were no people inside. Paramedics transported one firefighter to hospital in stable condition for a heat-related injury. Paramedics assessed another firefighter on scene for a minor injury and no transportation to hospital was required. Crews declared the fire under control at 3:49 p.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
