Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to gas leak near Broadway and Donald Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:37 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a ruptured gas line near Broadway and Donald Street.

When crews arrived, they encountered a line that had been damaged by a construction crew and was venting natural gas into the atmosphere. Manitoba Hydro crews responded to repair the gas line.

WFPS crews evacuated nearby businesses and residential buildings as a precaution and occupants have since been able to return to those buildings. No injuries were reported.

Manitoba Hydro crews were able to shut off the gas by 7:25 p.m. Manitoba Hydro crews are on site and repairs are ongoing. Emergency crews have departed the scene.
