Zoning changes expected to create more housing opportunities and help address Winnipeg’s housing shortage

Winnipeg, MB Winnipeg residents are invited to discuss zoning changes proposed to allow more types of infill housing projects in our city. The City is hosting four open houses where attendees can hear from city planners and ask questions about the planned bylaw amendments.

Winnipeg needs more housing so everyone can have a home they can afford. To help address this important need, the City has proposed changes to the Winnipeg Zoning By-law and Local Area Plans to enable the development of:

  • Two-unit, three-unit, and four-unit homes in many neighbourhoods;
  • Taller four-unit homes (up to 39 feet) on certain lots within 800 metres walking distance of a frequent transit route.

Residents can find out more about the proposed zoning bylaw changes by taking part in one of our virtual or in-person open houses.
