Public invited to view recommended design and video simulation of Chief Peguis Trail Extension West

Released: October 26, 2017 at 3:10 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeggers are invited to attend a public information session on the Chief Peguis Trail Extension West from Main Street to Brookside Boulevard on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Residents will have the opportunity to view the preliminary design, learn how feedback from previous engagement opportunities was incorporated into the design, and discuss next steps with City representatives and members of the project team.

“Public feedback received throughout the study has really shaped this preliminary design and helped us understand the community’s priorities,” said Devi Sharma, City Councillor for Old Kildonan. “I encourage residents to attend this next Information Session to talk to City staff about next steps for the project and to see how the design has changed based on feedback from the community.”

The approximately 10-kilometre road extension in northwest Winnipeg is an important component of the City’s transportation network. The project will support economic development, create recreation opportunities, and support the completion of the Strategic Inner Ring Road to reduce traffic on neighbourhood streets to make them more accommodating for public transit, walking and cycling.

Once the project is complete, it will be presented to Council for approval in early 2018.
