Firearms Seizure – Arrest: C22-82087

On April 21, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Central Community Support Unit (CSU) officers recognized a known male with warrants sitting in a taxi travelling on St. Mary’s Road and Marion Street.

CSU officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop at Main Street and Broadway Avenue and arrested the male suspect without incident.

As a result of the traffic stop and subsequent arrest, officers seized the following:

Sexual Assault / Child Sexual Abuse Imagery – Arrest: R21-26686

In September 2021, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Child Abuse Unit began an investigation regarding the sexual assault of a child that occurred between July and August 2021. The child was assaulted by a known adult while staying at his residence in the 400 block of Aberdeen Avenue. This residence also operated as a home daycare.

In October 2021, Robert Dale PRINCE, 36, was charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

Suspicious Death – Investigation: C22-78733

As previously released:

On April 17, 2022, at approximately 4:15 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a deceased adult male at a residence in the 400 block of Elgin Avenue.

The Homicide Unit continues to investigate. Anyone with information can contact investigators in the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Update:

After further investigation, the Homicide Unit confirms this death is not considered a homicide.

Homicide – Investigation: C22- 80520

Update:

Yesterday, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a release regarding a suspicious death. A deceased male was located within a residential fire in the 600 block of Flora Avenue.

The deceased has now been identified as Steven Andrew MINGO, a 30-year-old male of Winnipeg.

His death is determined to be a homicide.

The Homicide Unit continues to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Robbery – Arrest: C22-81250

On April 20, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a person who was robbed at knifepoint in the area of the Millennium Library.

A victim in his 30s immediately ran to the safety of the Winnipeg Police Service Headquarters, where he reported the robbery and the theft of his cellular phone. The victim suffered no injuries as a result of the robbery.

Firearms – Arrest: C22-81171

On April 20, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Garden City mall security requested that an individual exit the mall as they were closing. During this exchange, the suspect exposed a rifle concealed in his waistband. He subsequently fled the mall, and security contacted police.

Officers in the North District, with the assistance of Air1, quickly located the suspect in the parking lot, and he was taken into custody.

In April of 2022, the Winnipeg Police Service investigated a known drug trafficker conducting illegal activity within the City of Winnipeg.

Members of the Guns and Gangs Unit continued the investigation and obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue.

On April 19, members of the Guns and Gangs Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit, executed the search warrant and arrested two males within the residence.

The following items were located and seized within the residence:

Drug Trafficking – Arrest: C22-77689

In March of 2022, the Winnipeg Police Service investigated a known drug trafficker conducting illegal activity within the City of Winnipeg.

Members of the Guns and Gangs Unit continued the investigation and obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 600 block of Manhattan Avenue.

On April 17, members of the Guns and Gangs Unit, with the assistance of the East District Community Support and Tactical Support Units, executed the search warrant and arrested a male within the residence.

The following items were located and seized within the residence:

Drug Trafficking – Arrest: C22-78496

In April of 2022, the Winnipeg Police Service investigated a known drug trafficker conducting illegal activity within the City of Winnipeg.

The Guns and Gangs Unit members continued the investigation and obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 600 block of Main Street.

On April 17, members of the Guns and Gangs Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit, executed the search warrant and arrested a male at this location.

The following items were located and seized within the residence:

Suspicious Death – Investigation: C22-80520

This morning at approximately 6:30 a.m., Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to an active fire at a two-storey residence in the 600 block of Flora Avenue. A deceased adult male was located within the residence.

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Homicide Unit is investigating this suspicious death.
