Winnipeg, MB – At 8:34 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half-storey, multi-family house in the 500 block of Alfred Avenue.
Winnipeg, MB – As we’ve seen another year of tragic losses of life due to the global pandemic, today, Mayor Brian Bowman announced a temporary memorial similar to last year’s to honour the Winnipeg lives lost.
“This Friday marks the 2nd year since the global pandemic was declared by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020,” said Mayor Bowman. “Candles will once again be lit in front of a dimmed Winnipeg sign from March 11-13 for each of the Winnipeggers lost to COVID-19.”
Public strongly recommended to continue wearing masks in City facilities and on Winnipeg Transit and Winnipeg Transit Plus as of March 15
Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is set to resume various in-person inspections in the coming weeks. Residents will be screened for symptoms prior to their appointments and City employees are required to wear a mask during their visit.

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:19 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half-storey duplex in the 300 block of Elgin Avenue.
Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. They launched an offensive attack but due to deteriorating conditions they were forced to exit the structure and transition to a defensive fire attack.
Occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.
Winnipeg, MB – At 4:39 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a commercial warehouse in the 1200 block of Manahan Avenue.
Upon arrival on scene, crews found a well-involved fire with smoke and flames coming from the building. Due to high heat and heavy smoke conditions, crews were unable to enter the structure. A defensive attack was launched using aerial ladders and handlines.
Winnipeg, MB – At 6:04 a.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, mixed-use structure (hotel and bar) in the 0 to 100 block of Keewatin Street.
Upon arrival on scene, crews found heavy smoke in the building. A fire was located in the ceiling space and an offensive attack was launched. The fire was declared under control at 6:59 a.m.
While most individuals in the hotel self-evacuated, crews assisted those who needed support. No injuries were reported.
Winnipeg, MB – In an expression of support and solidarity, today, Mayor Brian Bowman announced a $10,000 contribution from his office budget will be going to Winnipeg’s Sister City of Lviv, Ukraine. The money will be allocated directly to the needs of people temporarily displaced in Lviv.

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg’s Spring 2022 Leisure Guide, Leisure Guide Skating brochure, and Leisure Guide Swimming brochure are now available for viewing online. Registration for all spring activities begins Tuesday, March 15 at 8 a.m. for Winnipeg residents, and Thursday, March 17 at 8 a.m. for non-residents.

Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the house. They launched an offensive attack but due to deteriorating conditions they were forced to exit the structure and transition to a defensive fire attack.
All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.
