Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on McKenzie Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:29 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant bungalow in the 0 to 100 block of McKenzie Street.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched, and the fire was declared under control at 12:52 a.m.

Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Burrows Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:06 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant bungalow in the 300 block of Burrows Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, they encountered a well-involved fire with heavy smoke and flames venting from the structure. A defensive attack was launched, and the fire was declared under control at 6:42 p.m. Once it was safe to do so, crews entered the structure to fully extinguish all hot spots.

311 Customer Service counters

The Customer Service front-counter located at the Susan A. Thompson Building, 510 Main St., as well as the Bilingual Customer Service Centre, located at 170 Goulet St., are closed to in-person service effective Wednesday, April 13 until further notice.

Extended Snow Route Parking Ban in effect starting tomorrow night

Parking prohibited on snow routes between midnight and 7 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – In anticipation of the forecasted snow and to facilitate snow clearing efforts, an Extended Snow Route Parking Ban will be in effect starting Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 12 a.m. (midnight when Wednesday turns to Thursday).

While in effect, the Extended Snow Route Parking Ban prohibits parking on snow routes between midnight and 7 a.m.

City of Winnipeg launches Affordable Housing Now Program in support of local housing projects

Eligible proponents can apply to the program to access various municipal supports and leverage federal funding opportunities

Winnipeg, MB – Following unanimous Council approval in March 2022, the City of Winnipeg has launched the Affordable Housing Now Program in support of local affordable housing projects. The program offers a range of municipal supports for local projects, including tax incentives, grants, and coordination with resources available through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).
