Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire at Westridge Community Club

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:26 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to multiple reports of fire on the exterior of Westridge Community Club located at 3 Marshall Crescent.

When crews arrived on-scene, they found fire and smoke coming from the bench area of a hockey shack that was connected to a hockey rink.

They launched an offensive strategy, hitting the fire from the exterior and entering the structure to check for further extension. The fire was declared under control at 7:09 p.m..

Residents encouraged to get involved on Boards and Commissions

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is now accepting applications for positions on various Boards and Commissions until October 21, 2022.

Canadian citizens and permanent residents who reside in Winnipeg are eligible to apply. All applicants must be 18 years or older on the date of application.

The City Clerk’s Department initiates an annual selection process to fill positions to Boards and Commissions on which there are imminent or existing vacancies.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a gas leak on Helmsdale Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:39 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a severed gas line at a construction site in the 300 block of Helmsdale Avenue.

When crews arrived on-scene, there was a strong smell of gas in the area. Crews quickly facilitated the evacuation of approximately 50 occupants from more than 40 residential structures on Helmsdale Avenue and Kimberly Avenue. Winnipeg Transit was called to provide a temporary, air-conditioned cooling space for impacted residents.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Four Oaks Cove and Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two fires last night.

Four Oaks Cove Fire

At 9:15 p.m. on August 1, 2022, WFPS responded to reports of an outside fire near a two-storey, single family house in the 0 to 100 block of Four Oaks Cove.

When crews arrived at the scene, they observed a small fire coming from a gas meter at the side of the house. Crews quickly extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.

Esplanade Riel to be illuminated in colour

Winnipeg, MB – Tonight, for the first time, Esplanade Riel will be illuminated in a multitude of colours using the new programmable LED lights that were recently installed.

“Beginning tonight, Winnipeg’s Esplanade Riel will be illuminated for a 10-minute animated colour light display every hour on the top of the hour until midnight for Winnipeggers and visitors to enjoy,” said Mayor Brian Bowman.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Agnes Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:18 p.m. on July 28, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant single-family bungalow in the 600 block of Agnes Avenue.

When crews arrived at the scene, they encountered smoke venting from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 5:03 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Kilbride Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:52 a.m. on July 28, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 200 block of Kilbride Avenue.

When crews arrived at the scene, they encountered smoke coming from the house. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 10:37 a.m.

Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Austin Street North

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:45 p.m. on July 27, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey, multi-family dwelling in the 100 block of Austin Street North.

When crews arrived at the scene, they encountered smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was quickly extinguished.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Main Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:44 a.m. on July 27, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a fire in a vacant multi-unit commercial building in the 800 block of Main Street.

When crews arrived at the scene, they encountered smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 6:11 a.m.

Crews completed a search of the building and no occupants were located. There were no injuries reported.
