Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Stella Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:42 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, single-storey house in the 500 block of Stella Avenue.

When crews arrived at the location, they found smoke coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire from inside the house. The fire was declared under control at 9:55 p.m.

Crews searched the house and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to structure fires on Pritchard Avenue and Ross Avenue West this evening.

At 4:19 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022, a WFPS crew was returning to their station when they came across smoke in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue. Upon investigating, they found that two neighbouring houses were involved with fire.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on McDermot Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:51 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey home in the 800 block of McDermot Avenue.

At the scene, crews saw smoke and flames coming from the home. Firefighters attacked the fire from outside the home until it was safe to enter and apply water inside. The fire was under control at 6:05 p.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Assiniboine Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:29 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey apartment building in the 300 block of Assiniboine Avenue.

At the scene, crews saw smoke coming from the building. Firefighters attacked the fire from inside the building. The fire was under control at 3:55 p.m.

No one was injured. Firefighters rescued one cat and reunited it with its owner.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a cooking fire on Cathedral Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:59 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey house in the 100 block Cathedral Avenue.

At the scene, crews saw flames and smoke in the house. Firefighters attacked the fire from inside the house. The fire was under control at 8:08 p.m. Paramedics assessed one patient on scene and they did not require transportation to a hospital.

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Public Library is seeking applications for its first Makers-in-Residence program.

The Makers-in-Residence (MiR) program connects library visitors with Winnipeg-based professional makers who have skills in visual/creative arts, digital media, music, and/or manufacturing using ideaMILL tools (such as sewing, prototyping, building) and are passionate about their craft. Two residency opportunities are available and will run at the same time.

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:32 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 300 block of Lansdowne Avenue.

At the scene, crews quickly extinguished a small fire in the kitchen. Paramedics treated one person and transported them to a hospital in stable condition.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the house. Two individuals had self-evacuated the house and bystanders reported one person remained trapped in the house.
