Reminder - Leisure Guide registration for Winter activities starts December 13 and 14

Winnipeg, MB - Citizens are reminded that the registration process for Winter 2017 activities will have staggered start dates as follows:

Tuesday, December 13 at 8:00 a.m. - Registration begins for swimming lessons only.

Wednesday, December 14 at 8:00 a.m. - Registration for all other activities begins and swimming lesson registration continues.

Statement From Mayor Brian Bowman

Winnipeg, MB - Mayor Brian Bowman issued the following statement today:

“Earlier today, Executive Policy Committee reviewed and approved recommendations from the Public Service establishing a process for evaluating City of Winnipeg statutory officers.

As part of their recommendations, the Public Service recommended that bylaw amendments be made to allow Council to meet in camera.

Mayor Bowman to Introduce Motion to Establish Lobbyist Registry

Winnipeg, MB - Mayor Brian Bowman will introduce a motion at Executive Policy Committee (EPC) this morning recommending that an implementation plan be developed to establish a lobbyist registry for the City of Winnipeg.

“A lobbyist registry is an accountability tool that can help strengthen openness and transparency, and is long overdue at City Hall,” said Mayor Bowman. “Lobbyist registries are an effective tool that allows members of the public to clearly see who is attempting to influence government decision makers and the reasons behind their efforts.”

Declared Snow Route Parking Ban in effect starting tonight at midnight

Winnipeg, MB - In order to facilitate a major plowing operation on main routes, a Declared Snow Route Parking Ban will be in effect starting tonight at midnight (Thursday, December 8 at 12:00 a.m.).

The Declared Snow Route Parking Ban extends the Annual Snow Route Parking Ban by two hours, prohibiting parking on any designated snow route between midnight and 7:00 a.m.
