Public invited to provide input on green space improvements at McKittrick Park and the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg asking residents who live and play in the Fort Rouge area for feedback on concept plans for McKittrick Park and the green space located at the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre site's northeast corner. These concept plans feature a number of improvements to the swing sets, pathways, and park benches. The City is asking the community to share their vision for the sites to ensure that the proposed concept plans meet residents’ visions and needs for the area.

Temporary closure of off-ramp from eastbound Bishop Grandin Boulevard to Pembina Highway

Winnipeg, MB - The off-ramp from eastbound Bishop Grandin Boulevard to Pembina Highway will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from Thursday, April 13 at 8:00 p.m. until midnight on Sunday, April 16 for piling construction for the Southwest Rapid Transitway (Stage 2) overpass structure.

Pedestrian sidewalk access will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should allow additional time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes.

City-wide spring clean up begins Tuesday morning

Winnipeg, MB - On Tuesday, April 18, around 7:00 a.m., crews will begin the annual city-wide spring clean up operation, sweeping the entire street network including back lanes over the next five to six weeks. Crews will initially focus on the downtown area, major routes, bridges and overpasses.

Good Friday and Easter weekend operating hours for City of Winnipeg facilities and services

Winnipeg, MB - All civic offices are closed on Friday, April 14 (Good Friday) and Monday, April 17 (Easter Monday).

Recycling/Garbage Collection

Recycling and garbage will be collected as normally scheduled on Friday, April 14, and Monday, April 17 for those with Friday and Monday as their collection day.

City of Winnipeg recognizes 2017 National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg is recognizing its 911 operators for their important contributions to public safety during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week which runs from April 9-15, 2017.

“Our Winnipeg Police Service and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service telecommunicators provide an important public service in connecting first responders to those in need, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “On behalf of all Winnipeggers, I thank them for their professional contributions to the safety of our city.”
