City's elected officials and employees to observe 2017 National Day of Mourning

Winnipeg, MB - City of Winnipeg elected officials and employees will join thousands of other Canadians in observing Canada's National Day of Mourning which is held each year on April 28. The National Day of Mourning is held to commemorate workers who have been injured or killed in the workplace as well as workers who have become ill as a result of their work.

Temporary closure of Ravenhurst Street between Pandora Avenue and Dugald Road for railway crossing project

Winnipeg, MB - Ravenhurst Street between Pandora Avenue and Dugald Road will be completely closed to northbound and southbound traffic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017 for a CN railway crossing reconstruction project. Ravenhurst Street will reopen at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017.

Motorists are advised to allow for additional travel time or to use alternate routes in this area to reach their destinations.

Waverley Underpass construction remains on track

Winnipeg, MB - Construction of the Waverley Underpass took an important step forward with the award of a major construction contract to Maple Leaf Construction Inc. on April 20, 2017. Maple Leaf Construction Inc. was the successful bidder for a comprehensive contract encompassing construction of the temporary traffic detour roadway, the underpass bridge structure, significant road improvements in the area, and land drainage work including a pump station.

Public invited to open house for an update on Transcona Parks plans and upgrades

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeggers are invited to attend a public open house for an update on Transcona Parks. This is the second public event on the topic, because of a snowstorm that limited safe travel to the first event in December 2016.

The City has been updating parks in Transcona and has plans for future upgrades and changes. The City and Councillor Wyatt wish to inform the public about the recent and upcoming planned changes. Please join us to share your thoughts and feedback.

Replacement of arson damaged play structure planned for Kilcona Park - Harbourview Recreation Complex

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeg families that frequented the play structure near the Harbourview Recreation Complex at Kilcona Park can be reassured that the popular amenity that was destroyed by arson last week is planned to be replaced. In the meantime, until the replacement is completed, a family friendly, fun alternative play structure can be found at nearby Olympic Park, located at 864 Headmaster Row just off of Lagimodiere Boulevard.

Southbound Main Street at Portage Avenue reopened following closure due to water main break

Winnipeg, MB - Southbound Main Street at Portage Avenue has been reopened following a closure earlier today due to a water main break.

Crews have isolated the leak and are working to fix it. A timeline for repair of the leak is unknown at this time. No customers are currently without water service.
