Winnipeggers encouraged to use the play structure at nearby Olympic Park as a family friendly, fun alternative until replacement is completed

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeg families that frequented the play structure near the Harbourview Recreation Complex at Kilcona Park can be reassured that the popular amenity that was destroyed by arson last week is planned to be replaced. In the meantime, until the replacement is completed, a family friendly, fun alternative play structure can be found at nearby Olympic Park, located at 864 Headmaster Row just off of Lagimodiere Boulevard.

City of Winnipeg crews have secured the Harbourview Recreation Complex play structure site to ensure safety of the public, and the fire damaged structure will be removed starting this week and completed next week. The senior and junior swing sets were not damaged but a new safety base needs to be installed under these areas. The swings will be available for use after this is completed in the next couple of weeks.

The costs for a replacement play structure are being determined and replacement options are being considered. The approximate timeline for installation is yet to be determined.
