City Releases 2017 First Quarter Financial Update

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg’s first quarter Financial Status Report cites a year-end projected deficit in the tax-supported operating budget totaling $13.6 million as at March 31, 2017 prior to utilizing deficit elimination measures, and additional cost mitigation measures are being recommended for consideration at next week’s Standing Policy Committee on Finance (SPC-Finance).

Free Refugee Housing Panel Discussion session offered June 14, 2017

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg is offering a free, interactive panel discussion about refugee housing as part of the City of Winnipeg Housing Speaker Series.

“The City is pleased to bring together a panel of experts to share information about refugee housing in Winnipeg,” said City of Winnipeg Chief Planner Braden Smith. “This is an important and current topic as many refugees continue to make Winnipeg their home.”

Road closures for the Pride Parade

Winnipeg, MB - The following road closures will be in place on Sunday, June 4 for the Pride Parade.

From 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. St. Mary Avenue will be completely closed between Kennedy Street and Memorial Boulevard.

Starting at 9:30 a.m. the following lane closures will be in place until 1:00 p.m.:

Ferry Road will be temporarily closed this Saturday between Bruce Avenue and Ness Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - Ferry Road between Bruce Avenue and Ness Avenue will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic this Saturday, June 3 from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. to connect sewer and water to a private residence. While this work is underway both the northbound and southbound lanes will be closed. Pedestrian access will be maintained on the east sidewalk.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and to plan for additional travel time to reach their destinations.

Temporary closure of off-ramp from eastbound Bishop Grandin Boulevard to southbound Pembina Highway

Winnipeg, MB - The off-ramp from eastbound Bishop Grandin Boulevard to southbound Pembina Highway will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from Friday, June 2 at 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 4 for ongoing construction for the Southwest Rapid Transitway (Stage 2) overpass structure.
Pedestrian sidewalk access will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should allow additional time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes.

Edmonton Street between Portage Avenue and Graham Avenue temporarily closed every Thursday until September for Downtown Biz Farmer's Market

Winnipeg, MB - Starting this Thursday, June 1 and every Thursday after that until September, Edmonton Street will be temporarily closed between Portage Avenue and Graham Avenue from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., to accommodate the Downtown Biz Farmer’s Market.

Pedestrian access will be maintained. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes during this time.
