Public invited to public information session on replacement of Truro Creek culverts in St. James

Released: May 31, 2017 at 1:19 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeggers are invited to attend a public information session on the replacement of three Truro Creek culverts at Linwood Street, Winchester Street and Ness Avenue on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Residents will have the opportunity to view the design concepts, ask questions and talk with project team members, and provide comments on the project.

The culverts were constructed prior to 1978, are in poor condition, and are inadequate to handle the creek flows in spring run-off and heavy rain events. To accommodate the construction of the culvert replacements, there will be temporary road closures on Linwood Street and Winchester Street. One vehicle travel lane for each direction will be maintained throughout construction of the Ness Avenue culvert.

It is expected that replacement of the Linwood Street and Winchester Street culverts will take place in the near future with the Ness Avenue culvert replacement taking place within the next five years. Construction dates are dependent on budget approval.
