City of Winnipeg invites residents to come in and cool off during forecasted high heat

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg invites residents to come in and cool off in civic facilities during regular operating hours, as high temperatures are forecasted over the next few days.

City facilities that are normally open on weekdays and weekends are available to act as 'cooling areas' where the public may come in for relief from the heat and have access to drinking water.

City pools and spray pads are also great ways to cool down.

Winnipeg, MB – In advance of the 2018 City of Winnipeg Municipal and School Boards Election on Wednesday, October 24, the City of Winnipeg has launched an online voter registration tool to improve the accuracy of the Voters List.

Councillor candidates can officially register for the 2018 Municipal and School Boards Election beginning tomorrow

Winnipeg, MB – Individuals seeking election as a City Councillor in the 2018 City of Winnipeg Municipal and School Boards Election can officially register beginning tomorrow.

Candidates must register in-person with the Senior Election Official, at the City Clerk’s Department, located on the main floor of the Susan A Thompson Building, 510 Main Street, beginning Saturday, June 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office will be closed on Sunday, July 1 and Monday, July 2 for Canada Day, before resuming regular business hours on Tuesday, July 3.

Waverley Underpass project area at Waverley Street and Taylor Avenue will be closed July 6 to 9

Winnipeg, MB –Waverley Street between Wilkes Avenue and Taylor Avenue will be closed next weekend from July 6 to 9 for railway track reconstruction, required as part of the Waverley Underpass project.

In order to complete railway track reconstruction, Waverley Street will be closed to all vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists from Friday, July 6 at 10 a.m. until Monday, July 9 at 6 a.m. The road and active transportation pathway will be closed within the following boundaries:

Canada Day weekend road closures

Winnipeg, MB - The following road closures will be in effect this weekend for Canada Day celebrations.

Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba (IRCOM) Summer Celebration
On Friday, June 29, from 1:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Ellen Street between Bannatyne Avenue and McDermot Avenue, and Bannatyne Avenue between Ellen Street and Dagmar Street will be closed to traffic.

City of Winnipeg outdoor pools, wading pools set to open

Winnipeg, MB ‒ The City of Winnipeg is inviting residents to enjoy aquatic fun this week as all heated and unheated outdoor pools will open on Friday, June 29, weather permitting.

St. Vital
Westdale

Both the Kildonan Park Outdoor Pool and the Transcona Aquatic Park opened for the season on June 15.
