More than Books: Public Invited to book launch on history of Winnipeg Public Library

Winnipeg, MB – Members of the public are invited to attend a book launch for More Than Books: The History of the Winnipeg Public Library.

Written by Eve Dutton and Kathleen Williams and edited by Joan Blakley, the book traces the history of the Winnipeg Public Library from its origins to present. Featuring over 160 photos and archival images, the book will be available to purchase, as a free eBook or to borrow from the Winnipeg Public Library. Copies are available to schools, libraries, archives, and historical associations.

The book was made possible by funding contributions from the City of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Public Library Board, and was published by Winnipeg Public Library.

Time: 7 p.m. reception; 7:30 p.m. remarks and presentation
Location: Millennium Library – Carol Shields Auditorium, 251 Donald St.
Format: Come and go

Refreshments will be served.

The event will include an archival display, remarks from author Eve Dutton, and a short presentation on the history of public libraries in Winnipeg by author and historian Jim Blanchard. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at a cost of $12. Following the event, the book will be available for purchase at the Best of Friends Gift Shop, located at the Millennium Library and for free download as an eBook.
