Joint First Responders Scenario Training Planned

Winnipeg, MB – On Sunday, September 16, members of the Winnipeg Police Service and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service will conduct a live training exercise inside the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. As such, citizens will notice a congregation of emergency vehicles in the general area.

The training is important as it allows first responders from all agencies to work together in a relevant public space to coordinate a response in the event emergency services are needed quickly. It allows responders to practice skills, identify gaps and build relationships.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service update: Henry Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:10 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018 Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a report of a fire at a seven-story apartment building in the 100-block of Henry Avenue. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and a working fire. A second alarm was called, increasing the number of apparatus and WFPS crew members on the scene, due to the potential for high life hazards when dealing with an occupied residential building.

Upcoming temporary closure of westbound Alexander Avenue between King Street and Princess Street

Winnipeg, MB – Westbound Alexander Avenue from Princess Street to King Street will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic starting at 9 a.m. this Friday, September 14, until 3 p.m. on Monday, September 17 for manhole repairs.

Pedestrian access on Alexander Avenue will be maintained.

Motorists should allow for additional travel time, and use alternate routes in this area to reach their destinations.

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:51 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a report of a fire involving semi-trailers in the 900 block of McLeod Avenue. Nomination Period for 2018 City of Winnipeg Municipal and School Boards Election begins today

Winnipeg, MB – The Senior Election Official for the City of Winnipeg will be accepting nomination papers for the offices of Mayor, Councillor and School Trustee, beginning today, Wednesday, September 12, 2018, and ending at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

Nomination papers must be submitted to the Senior Election Official at the City Clerk's Department, Susan A. Thompson Building, 510 Main Street, Winnipeg, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., including Saturday and Sunday.

Upon arrival, crews found a working fire and declared a second alarm in order to increase the number of apparatus and WFPS crew members on the scene.
