Winnipeg, MB – This Sunday, October 14 from 5:30 a.m. until noon, westbound and eastbound Roblin Boulevard will be temporarily closed, from Shaftsbury Boulevard to Chalfont Road, for the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Half Marathon. Access to the Assiniboine Park Zoo will be provided via westbound Roblin Boulevard.

Motorists should allow for additional travel time, and use alternate routes in this area to reach their destinations.

Westbound and eastbound Jubilee Avenue from Osborne Street to Nassau Street closed this weekend

Winnipeg, MB – Starting this Saturday, October 13 at 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, westbound and eastbound Jubilee Avenue will be temporarily closed, from Osborne Street to Nassau Street South, for paving of the roadway.

Upcoming temporary closure of Princess Street between James Avenue and William Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – Princess Street from James Avenue to William Avenue will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 9 a.m. on Sunday, October 14 until 3 a.m. on Monday, October 15 for film production.

Pedestrian access on Princess Street will be maintained.

Bonivital Pool shallow pool reopens following temporary closure for water testing

Winnipeg, MB – The shallow pool at Bonivital Pool, located at 1215 Archibald St., has reopened after water tests deemed it safe to do so. The shallow pool was closed this week due to unscheduled maintenance caused by irregular water quality readings.

The City would like to thank patrons for their patience during this closure.

Temporary closure of Arlington Bridge between Dufferin Avenue and Logan Avenue this weekend

Winnipeg, MB – The northbound and southbound directions of travel on the Arlington Bridge between Dufferin Avenue and Logan Avenue will be temporarily closed from 6 a.m. on Saturday, October 13 until 6 a.m., on Monday, October 15 for required bridge maintenance.

International Day of the Girl: Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and Government of Manitoba partner to teach young girls about career opportunities in emergency services

Winnipeg, MB – In honour of the International Day of the Girl being recognized today, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) partnered with the Government of Manitoba's Status of Women Secretariat to host groups of Winnipeg girls at four WFPS locations. The purpose of these visits is to ensure young girls know that careers in the Fire and Paramedic Service are within their grasp.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Atlantic Ave. Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 6:56 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a report of a fire at a three-storey apartment building in the 200 block of Atlantic Avenue. Upon arrival, crews discovered significant flames coming from windows on the third floor.

A defensive strategy was utilized until conditions in the building improved to the point where crews could safely enter to extinguish the fire. The fire was declared under control at 8:10 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service update: Good Street Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:52 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a report of a fire at a two-storey hotel in the 600-block of Main Street. Upon arrival, crews found that building sprinkler systems had successfully extinguished most of the fire, limiting damage from the flames but causing extensive water damage. Considerable heavy smoke existed throughout the building.

Bonivital Pool shallow pool temporarily closed for water testing

Winnipeg, MB – The public is advised that the shallow pool at Bonivital Pool, located at 1215 Archibald Street, is closed until further notice as per Manitoba Health Regulations for pool foulings.

The larger lap pool and hot tub remain open to the public. Registered patrons and rental groups impacted by the temporary closure of the shallow pool will be accommodated in the larger lap pool and will be notified of the accommodation upon attending the facility.
