Annual Snow Route Parking Ban begins Saturday, December 1

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg's Annual Snow Route Parking Ban will take effect at 2 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018. Vehicles may not park on streets designated as snow routes between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.

The Annual Snow Route Parking Ban is in effect from December 1 to March 1.

Avoid a ticket and tow

All lanes on McPhillips Street between Logan Avenue and Jarvis Avenue to be reopened to traffic this Sunday

Winnipeg, MB – All lanes in either direction on McPhillips Street between Logan Avenue and Jarvis Avenue will be reopened to traffic on Sunday, November 25. The west sidewalk will remain closed to pedestrians until a handrail is installed.

To accommodate the handrail installation on the west sidewalk, there will be intermittent southbound curb lane closures; however, all four lanes will remain open to traffic during the morning rush hour period. Pedestrians can use the east sidewalk in the meantime.

Opening of West Alexander to East Exchange Corridor expands Winnipeg’s pedestrian and cycling network

Public invited to review plans to complete Princess Street bike connections in Exchange District

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeggers are invited to attend an information session to view and provide feedback on proposed active transportation improvements on Princess Street between William Avenue and Higgins Avenue.

The City of Winnipeg is developing a plan to meet the current and future area transportation needs in the Exchange District, including a commitment to creating a safe and accessible pedestrian and cycling network for people of all ages and abilities in the area.

City reports 2018 third quarter financial update

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg’s third quarter financial status report is forecasting a projected surplus in the tax-supported operating budget (General Revenue Fund) of $9.5 million, as at September 30, 2018. The City’s third quarter financial update will be presented at the meeting of the Standing Policy Committee on Finance on November 27, 2018.

This projection marks a change of $12.2 million from the second quarter financial update, which projected a year-end deficit of $2.7 million, as at June 30, 2018.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Selkirk Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:26 a.m. on November 20, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of fire in a single-family residence in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue. Upon arrival, crews discovered heavy fire involving both the interior and exterior of the home and the detached garage. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 5:51 a.m.

Saskatchewan Avenue from Cavalier Drive to Hamilton Avenue to be temporarily closed for roadwork

Winnipeg, MB – Starting on Tuesday, November 20 at 7 a.m., Saskatchewan Avenue from Cavalier Drive to Hamilton Avenue will be completely closed to both eastbound and westbound traffic for roadwork. Saskatchewan Avenue will reopen at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21. Motorists should allow additional time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes.

Pedestrian access will be not be maintained. Please note that access to Saskatchewan Avenue from the Sturgeon Creek Greenway Trail will be closed for the duration of construction.

Downtown street closures for film production

Winnipeg, MB – The following temporary street closures will be in place on Sunday, November 18 from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. for film production:

  • Southbound Kennedy Street from St. Mary Avenue to Broadway.
  • Eastbound York Avenue from Memorial Boulevard to Kennedy Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained and motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes during this time.
