Winnipeg, MB - At 1:09 a.m. on December 16, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of fire in a two and a half-storey single family residence in the 500 block of William Avenue. Upon arrival, crews mounted an offensive attack and the fire was declared under control at 1:46 a.m. The house suffered extensive smoke, fire and water damage throughout.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Martell Crescent Fire

Winnipeg, MB - At 10:22 a.m. on December 15, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of fire in a bi-level, single family residence in the 0-100 block of Martell Crescent. Upon arrival, crews found the fire well-involved, with flames coming out of the basement windows.

As 911 reports indicated an individual potentially trapped inside the structure, crews entered in order to complete a search. During their search, they recovered one victim deceased. Crews also found one dog deceased.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Stella Avenue Fire

Winnipeg, MB - At 11:02 p.m. on December 14, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of fire in a one and half single family residence in the 700 block of Stella Avenue. Upon arrival, crews launched an offensive attack to fight the fire however due to unsafe conditions were forced to evacuate the building and continue fighting the fire using a defensive strategy, aided by an aerial ladder.

Times updated for upcoming closures of Carlton Street between Graham Avenue and St. Mary Avenue

Winnipeg, MB - The times for the upcoming closures on Carlton Street have been adjusted. Southbound Carlton Street from Graham Avenue to St. Mary Avenue will now be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic two days in December for tower crane work.

  • Tuesday, December 18, from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19
  • Sunday, December 23, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Motorists should allow for additional travel time and use alternate routes in this area to reach their destinations.

Two upcoming Sunday closures of Carlton Street between Graham Avenue and St. Mary Avenue

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Pritchard Avenue and Robson Street Fires

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:36 p.m. on December 11, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of fire in a one and half single family residence in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue. Upon arrival, crews launched an offensive attack to fight the fire however due to unsafe conditions were forced to evacuate the building and continue fighting the fire using a defensive strategy. Crews are expected to remain on scene well into tonight.

Winnipeg Transit presents the Santa Bus

Winnipeg, MB – The Santa Bus is driving holiday spirit starting Wednesday, December 12 until Monday, December 24.

Winnipeg Transit bus #142 will feature larger-than-life vinyl graphics of Santa and his reindeer. Since 1985, all cash fares and donations collected on the Santa Bus go directly to the Christmas Cheer Board. Last year, $9,624.80 was raised.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service update: Pembina Highway and Ducharme Avenue - Motor Vehicle Collision

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:55 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to a motor vehicle collision near the intersection of Pembina Highway and Ducharme Avenue.

In total, five individuals were injured and required transport to hospital. The severity of injuries varied. One patient was transported in critical condition, two in unstable condition and two in stable condition.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service update: King Edward Street Gas Leak

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:21 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to reports of a gas leak near the intersection of King Edward Street and Logan Avenue. Once on scene it was determined that a construction contractor ruptured a three quarter inch gas line.
