Northbound Gladstone Street between Sutherland Avenue and Disraeli Freeway will be closed to traffic from October 3 to 10

Winnipeg, MB – Northbound Gladstone Street between Sutherland Avenue and Disraeli Freeway will be completely closed to traffic starting Thursday, October 3 at 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 10 for water services repairs. As part of this closure, the ramp to Gladstone Street from northbound Disraeli will also be completely closed due to the work on Gladstone; however, access to northbound Disraeli, from Gladstone Street, will remain open.

Pedestrian access will be maintained. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes during this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Responds to fire under Osborne Street Bridge

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:43 a.m. on October 2, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire under the Osborne Street Bridge. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy black smoke. Crews launched an offensive attack, and quickly extinguished the fire, declaring it under control at 8:09 a.m.

One patient was assessed on scene by paramedics. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Responds to House Fire on Agnes Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 4:05 p.m. on October 1, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half storey home in the 600 block of Agnes Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke and flames coming from the house.

Crews launched an interior offensive attack and the fire was declared under control at 4:37 p.m.

Three occupants self-evacuated and were assessed by paramedics. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Northbound and southbound Kenaston Boulevard between Lowson Crescent and Rothwell Road closed October 4 to 6

Winnipeg, MB – Kenaston Boulevard between Lowson Crescent and Rothwell Road will be completely closed to northbound and southbound traffic starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 4 for a railway crossing reconstruction. Kenaston Boulevard will reopen at 11 p.m. on Sunday, October 6.

Motorists should allow additional travel time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes such as Waverley Street or Pembina Highway.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Responds to House Fire on St. Anne’s Road

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:26 a.m. on September 30, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half storey, single-family home in the 1600 block of St. Anne’s Road. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy flames and smoke coming from the roof of the house.

An offensive attack was launched, with crews using water tankers to shuttle water in as the home is outside of the City of Winnipeg water district. The fire was declared under control at 7:53 a.m. The home suffered significant damage.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Responds to Downtown High-Rise Fire

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:35 a.m. on September 29, 2019, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a seven-storey high-rise at 138 Portage Avenue East currently under renovations. A second alarm was called, increasing the number of apparatus and WFPS crew members on the scene, due to the potential for high life hazards when dealing with a high-rise structure.

New running track at Victor Mager School reaches finish line

Winnipeg, MB – Today, the City of Winnipeg and Louis Riel School Division officially opened a new 400-metre, four-lane, rubberized outdoor running track at Victor Mager School.

“I’m happy to see the new outdoor running track at Victor Mager School finally opened to the public today,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “The City of Winnipeg’s investment into the facilities at Dakota Collegiate and the track at Victor Mager School represent an investment in healthy living at community spaces that will be enjoyed for many years to come.”
