Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Selkirk Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-storey, one-family home in the 1300 block of Selkirk Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack and declared the fire under control at 1:11 p.m.

All occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available at this time.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Notre Dame Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:48 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey commercial building in the 1600 block of Notre Dame Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered smoke coming from the building. Crews launched an offensive attack, quickly declaring the fire under control.

Crews searched the building and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Annual road construction season to kick-off in May

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg’s road construction season is set to get underway this May, with nearly 200 construction projects planned city-wide. In total, over 175 lane kilometers of improvements are scheduled this year, making for a smoother ride for residents in all areas of Winnipeg.

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:37 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half-storey, single family home in the 1500 block of Pacific Avenue West. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 3:25 a.m.

There were no occupants in the house at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Transit announces service reductions

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg remains committed to maintaining essential services while balancing the health, safety, and well-being of our employees and residents; however, the City also needs to be a responsible trustee of public funds and ensure prudent spending of taxpayers’ money. Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Winnipeg Transit has experienced a 72% reduction in ridership, over this same time in 2019.

Winnipeg, MB – At 11:41 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in two-storey house in the 700-block of Flora Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered smoke coming from the home and flames visible through the windows. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 12:05 a.m.

There were no occupants in the house at the time of the fire. No other injuries were reported.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Buller Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 3:19 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in three-storey, multi-family complex in the first block of Buller Street. Upon arrival on scene, crews encountered heavy smoke coming from one of the suites and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 3:38 p.m.
