Winnipeg, MB – At 4:08 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a home in the 600 block of Moncton Avenue.

When crews arrived, flames were coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 5:16 a.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Parkview Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:53 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a home in the 100 block of Parkview Street.

When crews arrived on scene, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 7:09 p.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. One firefighter was assessed by paramedics on scene but no transportation to hospital was required.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on St. Mary’s Road

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:47 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire at a two-storey apartment building in the 1600 block of St. Mary’s Road.

When crews arrived, flames were visible. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 9:16 p.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. Paramedics assessed two people on scene but no transportation to hospital was required.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Kernaghan Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 8:45 p.m. on Monday, June 28, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single storey home in the 800 block of Kernaghan Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, there was smoke coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack using thermal imaging cameras to locate the fire. The fire was declared under control at 9:13 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:38 p.m. on Sunday, June 27, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a one-storey home in the 0-100 block of Marble Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, smoke was coming from the home. Crews launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 9:53 p.m.

All occupants safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

City of Winnipeg offering Leisure Guide programming this summer

Winnipeg, MB – In the spirit of the new public health orders announced on June 23, as part of a phased-in resumption of service, the City of Winnipeg is offering Summer 2021 Leisure Guide programming, featuring children’s day camps and active living classes. The programming will follow provincial public health guidelines, and most activities will take place outdoors.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to grass fires near Mission Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 2:30 p.m. on June 24, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to four separate grass fires in the Mission Industrial area, south of East Elmwood. The fires were spreading quickly and threatening nearby structures, with wind speeds gusting over 40km/h.

Crews used specialized wildland-urban interface equipment, including the WFPS Bison, to attack the fires and protect the surrounding areas and properties.

Stretches of Saskatchewan Avenue and Kennedy Street to temporarily close this weekend

Winnipeg, MB – Two major streets will temporarily close this weekend to accommodate construction work.

Saskatchewan Avenue

Saskatchewan Avenue, from Moray Street to Hamilton Avenue, will be temporarily closed starting at 7 a.m. Saturday, June 26 until 7 p.m. Sunday, June 27 for roadway construction. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes to get to their destination while this temporary road closure is in effect.

City changing PayByPhone location numbers in paid parking areas

New map feature in app will help customers automatically find their location number

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg and PayByPhone are changing the four-digit location numbers for mobile parking payments to new six-digit numbers that are unique to each block face (the specific side of the street between two intersections).

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to gas leak on Wall Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 9:02 a.m. on June 22, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a gas leak in the 900 block of Wall Street. When crews arrived on scene, they encountered a natural gas line that was damaged during construction activities.

Gas was venting safely into the atmosphere; however, as a precaution, several nearby buildings were temporarily evacuated. WFPS crews also monitored gas readings in adjacent buildings. No injuries were reported
