Reflecting on a year of change

Our transit network is a year old – now is a great time to Try Transit

On June 29, 2025, we made the single largest service change in our history.

Today, our transit network turned a year old. And now, more than ever, it’s a great time to Try Transit.

While there have been some growing pains the past 12 months, we have been listening loud and clear to the great feedback Winnipeggers have given us. We have taken that feedback, along with data we’ve been collecting, to make important changes to our network.

In December, we extended night service on weekdays and Saturdays in 10 of 12 On-Request zones. Then we added more nighttime service to 11 routes in the spring. Take a look at all the changes we’ve made to our service and network during our 2025 winter, 2026 spring, and 2026 summer schedule changes.

We couldn’t make these changes without your help.

Small improvements, bigger ideas

We’re always looking to make our service more efficient and reliable.

Last week, we published our 2026 Winnipeg Transit Annual Service Plan. It highlights opportunities to put buses where Winnipeggers need them the most. Some of these recommended changes can be implemented immediately. Others, however, will require Council consideration as part of the 2027 multi-year budget update process.

These recommendations were either identified before the network launch in June 2025 or based on what we learned in the first year of the new system.

Diving into the data

Want to see how your bus route or On-Request zone is performing?

We launched an interactive database highlighting the performance of our fixed-route service and On-Request service. This is the same data we use to make service and network decisions. The database features key performance indicators from the 2025/26 winter schedule.

For our fixed-route service, you can filter the route and schedule type to find information about:

  • Service productivity
    • Boardings
    • Service hours
    • Boardings per service hour

  • Service quality
    • On-time performance
    • Span of service
    • Crowding

For On-Request, you can filter your zone and schedule type to find information about:

  • Boardings
    • Completed boardings
    • Requested boardings
    • Cancellations
    • Average daily boardings
    • Average wait time

  • Popular locations
    • Pick-up location heat map
    • Drop-off location heat map

What’s next?

We’re always looking at ways to improve our service.

With that in mind, we want to keep hearing from Winnipeggers. Your feedback will continue to guide us as our transit system evolves.

You can still expect us to make smaller changes during our four seasonal schedule changes. Larger, more sweeping changes are expected as part of the 2027 service plan. This will allow our planners to better evaluate the new system over a longer period of time.
