City of Winnipeg launches notification for online untreated sewage release reports

Released: March 8, 2024 at 12:10 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg has added a new notification system that will send an email out to subscribers every time we post an untreated sewage spill report. We have been reporting untreated sewage releases online for almost 20 years, and this new feature now enhances our efforts to keep the public informed.

Anyone can sign up here to receive these notifications. The notification will include a link to the incident report on our Reports on Untreated Sewage webpage.

The release of untreated sewage is usually caused by a disruption in our sewer system. These reports explain what happened to cause the leak and what actions we took to resolve it. Some examples of a disruption include a broken pipe, a water main break or a power outage.
