Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Balmoral Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:21 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey house in the 200 block of Balmoral Street.

When crews arrived to the scene, they found smoke and flames coming from the house. Crews attacked the fire and declared it under control at 10:59 p.m.

Firefighters evacuated six residents from the house. No injuries were reported. A Winnipeg Transit bus was deployed to the scene to provide shelter to the evacuees.

The City’s Emergency Social Services team assisted the displaced residents in finding temporary accommodations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not currently available.
