Winnipeg Transit Plus invites feedback on proposed changes to how it responds to no-shows, late cancellations

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Transit Plus is looking for feedback on proposed changes to how it responds to customer no-shows and late cancellations.

All Transit Plus trips are prescheduled. When no-shows and late cancellations occur, Transit Plus resources are wasted and as a result fewer customers can take trips.

The proposed policy takes aim at this impact by using a points-based system with suspension of service as a penalty for losing points. Right now, Transit Plus customers face financial penalties for no-showing a trip or cancelling it without enough notice.

These changes follow recommendations made in an Ombudsmen’s report and the Winnipeg Transit Master Plan. Using a points-based system puts all customers on an even playing field, instead of financial penalties that hit harder for those with lower incomes.

Customers, caregivers, service providers and community stakeholders can learn more about how the proposed points-based system works by visiting winnipeg.ca/noshowpolicy. They can register to participate in one of the virtual events taking place on Wednesday, June 28. A survey is open for feedback until July 14.
