Winnipeg, MB – At 11:01 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, one-and-a-half storey house in the 1400 block of Roy Avenue.
Upon arrival on scene, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. Crews initially fought the fire from inside the building but due to deteriorating conditions, they were forced to exit and fight the fire from the exterior of the building.
Once conditions improved, they were once again able to enter the house to finish extinguishing the fire. The fire was declared under control at 12:52 a.m.
Crews completed a search of the house and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and damage estimates are not available at this time.
