Winnipeg, MB – At 9:41 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a five-storey apartment building on Newdale Avenue.
When crews arrived at the scene they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. Due to the size of the building and number of occupants, additional units were dispatched to the scene.
Crews fought the fire from the interior and exterior of the building, declaring the fire under control at 10:10 a.m. A number of units sustained smoke, fire, and water damage. Crews ventilated smoke from the building to ensure it was safe for residents whose suites were undamaged to return.

On-scene paramedics assessed one resident at the scene. They did not require transport to hospital. One firefighter was also assessed at the scene and transported to hospital in stable condition.
