Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Logan Avenue

Released: April 26, 2023 at 8:06 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:37 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant two-storey house in the 700 block of Logan Avenue. The incident was reported by on-duty members of the Winnipeg Police Service. The house had previously been damaged by a fire in November 2022.

When WFPS crews arrived to the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. Due to fire conditions and the previous fire damage, it was not safe for crews to enter. They fought the fire from the outside of the house, declaring it extinguished at 3:11 a.m.

Crews evacuated one neighbouring house as a precaution. Residents were able to return to their home once the fire was out. No injuries were reported.

The structural integrity of the house is compromised, so WFPS is arranging emergency demolition of the building. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
