Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Traverse Avenue and Manitoba Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – On Thursday, March 16, 2023, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WPFS) responded to two residential fires.

Traverse Avenue

At 10:42 a.m., WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a home in the 100 block of Traverse Avenue.

At the scene, crews saw heavy black smoke coming from the home. Firefighters attacked the fire from the inside and declared it under control at 11:01 p.m.

No one was in the home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no damage estimates are available.

Manitoba Avenue

At 4:33 p.m., WFPS responded to reports of a fire in the 2000 block of Manitoba Avenue.

Firefighters attacked the fire from inside the building, and declared the fire under control at 4:38 p.m.

Paramedics assessed one patient on the scene and no transportation to hospital was required.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
