Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Wellington Crescent and Portage Avenue

Winnipeg, MB The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires since yesterday.

Wellington Crescent

At 5:01 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a single storey home in the 1100 block of Wellington Crescent.

At the scene, crews saw heavy smoke coming from the home. Firefighters attacked the fire and it was under control at 6:02 p.m. Everyone self-evacuated safely. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.

Portage Avenue

At 2:50 a.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2022, WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a hotel in the 3700 block of Portage Avenue.

Firefighters attacked the fire from inside and it was under control at 3:32 a.m. Paramedics treated two patients at the scene and transported one patient to a hospital in critical condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
