Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Pritchard Avenue

Winnipeg, MB At 5:38 a.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in two-and-a-half storey, multi-family dwelling in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue.

At the scene, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. Firefighters attacked the fire from inside the building. The fire was declared under control at 7:05 a.m.

All occupants of the building self-evacuated. Crews evacuated neighbouring homes as a precaution. Paramedics assessed one individual on scene. The person did not require transport to hospital. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The structure sustained significant damage from smoke, fire and water. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
