Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two house fires.
Kingsbury Avenue fire
At 11:38 a.m. on November 26, 2022, the WFPS responded to a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 300 block of Kingsbury Avenue.
When crews arrived on scene, they found smoke coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire from inside the building, declaring it under control at 12:26 p.m.
One person was in the house at the time of the fire, and they safely evacuated before crews arrived on scene. Paramedics assessed the individual and determined transport to hospital was not required. No injuries were reported.
Preliminary observations suggest the fire was caused by an electrical failure. The house sustained significant damage. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
St. Anne’s Road fire
At 1:48 p.m. on November 26, 2022, WFPS crews responded to a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 1600 block of St. Anne’s Road.
When crews got to the location, heavy smoke was coming from the house. Firefighters entered the house and extinguished the fire. Water tankers were used to shuttle water to the scene as the fire was outside the City of Winnipeg water district. The fire was declared under control at 3:12 p.m.
The two occupants of the house self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. They were both assessed by paramedics and transported to hospital in unstable condition. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The house suffered significant damage. No damage estimates are currently available.
