Released: November 15, 2022 at 6:09 p.m.

At 1:31 p.m. on November 15, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of smoke in a building in the 100 block of Higgins Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke in the building. They investigated and found a small fire in a heating unit. It was quickly extinguished, and crews worked to ventilate the smoke from the building.

Crews searched the building to ensure that all occupants had evacuated. No injuries were reported.

Preliminary observations suggest the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical issue. Damage estimates are not available at this time. Damages were contained to the heating unit.
