Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Sherbrook Street

Released: November 8, 2022 at 11:11 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:19 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 400 block of Sherbrook Street.

When crews arrived at the location, they found the house fully-engulfed in flames. As it was not safe to enter the house, firefighters attacked the fire from outside of the house. Crews used hand lines and an aerial ladder truck to apply water to the fire and to protect the neighbouring house. The fire was declared under control at 11:25 p.m.

Two occupants of the house safely self-evacuated. They were assessed by paramedics but did not require transport to hospital. WFPS crews evacuated residents of the neighbouring house. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time but the house is considered a complete loss.
