Winnipeg, MB – At 2:18 a.m. on August 14, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a fire in a two-storey house in the 600 block of Stella Avenue.
The first arriving crews found fire contained to the rear of the structure on the main floor. A water supply was quickly established and crews launched offensive fire suppression operations bringing the fire under control at 2:35 am.
Crews performed an extensive search of the home and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
At 4:32 a.m. on August 14, 2022, the WFPS responded to a fire alarm system activation in a single-storey strip mall located in the 3000 block of Portage Avenue.
First arriving crews were met by members of the Winnipeg Police Service who were already on-scene stating that there was smoke inside the vestibule of the bank. Fire crews confirmed the alarm system activation and located fire inside an ATM banking machine. The fire was extinguished using a Carbon Dioxide extinguisher.
No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation and damage estimates are not available at this time.
