Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires this morning.
Manitoba Avenue fire
At 7:08 a.m. on August 7, 2022, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, multi-family residence in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue.
When crews arrived, they found heavy black smoke coming from the structure. Bystanders indicated that there were occupants still in the house. An offensive attack and rescue were launched simultaneously. Crews located seven occupants and brought them to safety. The fire was declared under control at 7:34 a.m.
No injuries were reported. The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services was called to assist displaced residents in finding temporary accommodations.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
Lulu Street fire
At 10:01 a.m. on August 7, 2022, the WFPS responded to multiple reports of a fire in a vacant, attached garage in the 700 block of Lulu Street.
When crews arrived, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 10:20 a.m. The fire did not spread to the attached house.
A search was completed and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.
The fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
