Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two overnight fires.
Main Street fire
At 1:24 a.m. on August 6, 2022, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey hotel in the 700 block of Main Street.
When crews arrived, they found that building’s sprinkler system had initiated, extinguishing a fire in one of the suites. Crews ensured all hotspots were extinguished and deactivated the sprinkler system.
The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services was called to assist in the event any of the residents were displaced. It was ultimately determined that most residents could return to their suites. Available suites were provided to those whose rooms were damaged.
