Winnipeg, MB – With the safety of residents in mind, we have closed several of our facilities and cancelled select programs and services in response to the storm.
The following is an updated comprehensive list of service impacts:
311 Customer Service counters – Closures extended
The Customer Service front-counter located at the Susan A. Thompson Building, 510 Main St., as well as the Bilingual Customer Service Centre, located at 170 Goulet St., will remain closed to in-person service on Thursday, April 14.
Residents can continue to contact 311 through phone, email, and on social media.
Animal Services – New
Animal Services, located at 1057 Logan Ave., is closed to in-person service on Wednesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 14.
Brady Road Landfill & 4R Winnipeg Depots – Closures extended
The Brady Road Resource Management Facility and all three 4R Depots will remain closed on Thursday, April 14.
Committee meetings – New
All public meetings scheduled for Wednesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 14 have been rescheduled.
Community Services Department Customer Service counter – New
The Community Services Department’s front-counter, located at 395 Main St., is closed to in-person on Wednesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 14.
Indoor pools and Fitness & Leisure Centres – Closures extended
All City indoor pools, fitness and leisure centres, and arenas will remain closed and all City-run recreation programming cancelled on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Impacted customers will automatically be refunded a credit on their account, as per Facility Terms and Conditions and Activity Terms and Conditions.
Libraries – Closures extended
All libraries will remain closed and programming cancelled on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Online services, including downloadable eBooks, catalogue searching, and holds/renewals, are available anytime at City of Winnipeg – Winnipeg Public Libraries.
Due dates and holds pick-up dates have been extended to Thursday, April 21, 2022.
Municipal cemeteries – New
All City cemeteries are closed on Wednesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 14.
Recycling & garbage collection – Service suspension extended
Recycling and garbage collection will be suspended on Thursday, April 14. Residents are advised to not put carts out for collection. For more information on collections, see: City of Winnipeg – MyUtility.
Zoning & Permits – Planning, Property & Development Department – New
The Zoning & Permits branch is closed to in-person service on Wednesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 14; permit applications must be submitted digitally.
Winnipeg Transit – Update
Winnipeg Transit is currently experiencing minor service delays as a result of the storm.
Passengers are advised to check updated schedules on Navigo prior to travelling and are advised not all regularly scheduled buses may run. Any significant Winnipeg Transit service impacts will be communicated via the @winnipegtransit Twitter account, and information about any potential detours will be posted to the Winnipeg Transit Service Advisories page and the @transitalerts Twitter account. We strongly advise against non-essential travel.
Previously-booked Winnipeg Transit Plus trips cannot be guaranteed during the storm.
Snow clearing & ice control operations – Update
A major, city-wide snow clearing operation consisting of approximately 200 pieces of equipment is in progress.
Crews are clearing streets, sidewalks, and active transportation paths based on the priority system, beginning with Priority 1 (P1); regional streets, major routes, priority active transportation routes and adjacent sidewalks and active transportation paths; followed by Priority 2 (P2); bus routes, collector streets and adjacent sidewalks and active transportation paths.
It’s anticipated that crews will likely plow and re-plow the P1 and P2 streets and sidewalks as required to keep snow routes open and passable as the forecasted snow continues over the next couple of days.
An Extended Snow Route Parking Ban is also in effect starting tonight at midnight, until further notice.
While in effect, the Extended Snow Route Parking Ban prohibits parking on snow routes between midnight and 7 a.m. For more information, see: City of Winnipeg – Snow Clearing & Ice Control.
Residents are reminded to drive to conditions and to stay back from heavy equipment.
