Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to HazMat incident on Main Street

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:31 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021 the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a spill involving a flammable chemical in a laboratory in a high-rise structure on Main Street.

When WFPS crews arrived on scene they evacuated occupants from the building as a precaution. The WFPS HazMat crew entered the building and were able to quickly contain and collect the product for safe disposal. The building was deemed safe for occupancy once the clean-up was complete.

One employee at the facility was exposed to the chemical when the spill occurred. They were transported to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.
