Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and Winnipeg Police Service respond to water incident near The Forks

Winnipeg, MB – At 12:42 p.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of an individual in the Red River near The Forks. Witnesses saw the individual go under the water without resurfacing.

WFPS Water Rescue crews arrived on scene and initiated a search mission for the missing individual, aided by the Winnipeg Police Service River Patrol. At approximately 2:40 p.m. the individual was located deceased

At this time, it is not known how the individual came to be in the water. The incident will be investigated by the Winnipeg Police Service.
